Convocatoria de una solicitud de ayuda dentro del Programa Arqueólogo sin Fronteras. El Programa del WAC Arqueólogos sin Fronteras es un programa único que apoya la educación y la formación arqueológica en países económicamente desfavorecidos. A través de una red de programas de formación, los miembros del WAC de diversas partes del mundo pueden viajar a las instituciones de acogida para proporcionar oportunidades educativas. Este programa se deriva de la misión del WAC de fomentar la interacción académica internacional, y de eliminar las barreras económicas a la educación arqueológica. Al poner en contacto investigadores de todo el mundo, nos aseguramos de que la educación superior en arqueología sea disponible para todos, independientemente de la situación económica de su país. El Ejecutivo del WAC está buscando propuestas para obtener una ayuda dentro del programa Arqueólogos sin Fronteras, que deberá desarrollarse entre el 01 de marzo 2012 y 31 de diciembre de 2012. Es importante tener en cuenta: El Ejecutivo del WAC ha asignado 2.000$ (EE.UU.) para apoyar una única propuesta del Programa Arqueólogos sin Fronteras por año. En 2012 pueden desarrollarse otros Programas adicionales, pero sólo uno será financiado por el WAC. Las solicitudes de ayuda serán aceptadas hasta el 15 de enero 2012. Para participar en el programa, los investigadores deben ser miembros de WAC. Call for Applications for Archaeologists without Borders Support
The WAC Archaeologists without Borders Program is a unique endeavour that supports archaeological education and training in economically disadvantaged countries. Through a network of training programs, WAC members in different parts of the world may travel to host institutions to provide educational opportunities. This program derives from the WAC mission to foster international academic interaction, and to eradicate economic barriers to education about archaeology.

By taking part in this project you will contribute to our shared vision of global equality in archaeology.
By linking scholars around the world, we ensure that higher archaeological education is available to all, regardless of the economic state of one’s country. In addition, WAC members are able to support one another by sharing expertise and insights and networking among members around the globe to ensure continued professional and personal development.
Would you like to be involved?
The WAC Executive is currently seeking proposals for support for an Archaeologists without Borders Program to be held between March 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012. Please note: The WAC Executive has allocated $2,000 (U.S.) support for a single Archaeologists without Borders Program each year. Additional Archaeologists without Borders Programs may take place in 2012, but only one will be funded by WAC.
Applications for support will be accepted until January 15 2012. To take part in the program, scholars should be members of WAC.
Organizations or individuals interested in applying for support for an Archaeologists without Borders Program should send the following information to the WAC Secretary, Ines Domingo (ines.domingo@ub.edu):
1) Full Name and Title of all collaborating individuals
2) Email addresses
3) Mailing addresses
4) Proposed Location and Dates of Program
5) Budget (including other sources of funding applied for and/or received)
6) A prospectus describing the theme of the program, possible participants, the involvement of Indigenous peoples and students, dissemination of program materials, and any additional relevant information.
7) A brief CV or resume (500 words or less) from each of the authors of the support application |

TOM AUSTEN BROWN CHAIR OF AUSTRALIAN ARCHAEOLOGY SCHOOL OF PHILOSOPHICAL AND HISTORICAL INQUIRY FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES REFERENCE NO. 1487/0811 The University of Sydney wishes to appoint a distinguished scholar to a Chair in the field of Australian archaeology with a focus on prehistory and heritage. The University is proud to establish the first named Chair in Australian Archaeology, funded by the Tom Austen Brown Bequest, which will support the development of a major program in teaching, research and community engagement. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Tom Austen Brown Chair of Australian Archaeology, located in the Department of Archaeology in the School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry. The school has an outstanding record and reputation in both research and teaching. Its staff includes Laureate, Federation and several Professorial Fellows as well as other distinguished academics involved in teaching and research. The school is home to Australia’s oldest Department of Archaeology. The department’s research and teaching interests are chronologically and geographically wide-ranging, with staff currently engaged with both prehistoric and historical archaeology in Australia, Oceania, East and South East Asia, China, Central Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Teaching and research activities are supported and enhanced by a well-equipped archaeological laboratory, and also by close association with the Archaeological Computing Laboratory and the Australian Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis. The University’s Nicholson Museum, housing Australia’s oldest and largest archaeological collection, further enriches the department’s teaching and research. The department is also a founding member of the Centre for Classical and Near Eastern Studies of Australia. To succeed, you must meet the following criteria: - Outstanding scholarship in the field of Australian archaeology with a focus on prehistory and heritage and a proven track record in attracting competitive grants.
- Strong track record of teaching performance with commitment to teaching. Capacity to teach Australian archaeology and archaeological skills and methods, as well as experience in innovative curriculum design.
- Good management skills and a willingness and ability to perform high level administrative tasks, including chairing department.
- Capacity to provide leadership in research and research training and to foster research.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with Indigenous communities in outreach projects.
- Capacity to further the University’s strategic objectives in relation to Indigenous research and education outcomes.
- Capacity to develop a broad program in Australian archaeology at both undergraduate and graduate level.

The Department of Historical Studies is seeking to make two appointments at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. Preference will be given to applicants who specialise in one or more of the following fields: modern economic history, African History (outside South Africa), transnational and/or comparative history especially in Africa and the southern world (ie Latin America, Asia, Indian Ocean). Requirements include: - A PhD in History or an appropriate cognate discipline or (for lecturer level) proof of near completion of a PhD
- Active research and evidence of academic publication
- Appropriate teaching experience at tertiary level
Familiarity with digital and new media teaching technologies would be advantageous. Responsibilities include: - Teaching and curriculum planning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
